AUDREY CHEN is a Chinese-American musician who was born into a family of material scientists, doctors and engineers, outside of Chicago in 1976. Parting ways with the family convention, she turned to the cello at age 8 and voice at 11. After years of classical and conservatory training in both instruments, with a resulting specialization in early and new music, she parted ways again in 2003 to begin new negotiations with sound in order to discover a more individually honest aesthetic. Now, using the cello, voice and analog electronics, Chen’s work delves deeply into her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling. A large component of her music is improvised and her approach to this is extremely personal and visceral. Her playing explores the combination and layering of a homemade analog synth, preparations and traditional and extended techniques in both the voice and cello. She works to join these elements into a singular ecstatic personal language.

Recently, her primary focus has been her SOLO project but she is also involved in many various collaborations. Among musicians, she has worked with Phil Minton, Tetuzi Akiyama, Toshimaru Nakamura, Ko Ishikawa, Elliott Sharp, Aki Onda, Phill Niblock, Frederic Blondy, Jerome Noetinger, C. Spencer Yeh, Alessandro Bosetti, Mats Gustafsson, Mazen Kerbaj, Michael Zerang, Tatsuya Nakatani, Le Quan Ninh, Joe Mcphee, Susan Alcorn, Michele Doneda, Paolo Angeli, Gianni Gebbia, plus many more. Some current projects include: duos with Phil Minton, Frederic Blondy, Robert van Heumen, Katt Hernandez, Nate Wooley, and Id M Theft Able. Trio with Nate Wooley and C. Spencer Yeh. Plus three new quartet projects with Jeff Carey/Morten J. Olsen/Raed Yassin, Miya Masaoka/Hans Grusel/Kenta Nagai and also with Frederic Blondy/Michael Johnsen/Jerome Noetinger. Chen has performed in Europe, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Taiwan, Canada and the USA. She is currently based in Baltimore, MD USA but primarily maintains an active touring schedule throughout Europe.

In addition to his solo work Seth plays drums for Hunting Lodge and Defibrillators; has contributed to live performances with Ashtray Navigations, the A Band, Team Brick, Kayo Dot and Afrirampo; and has performed pieces by James Weeks, Ignacio Agrimbau and Michael Finnissy.

Ben Jacobs was lucky enough to grow up in a house with a piano. As a child he protested about the lessons in which he was forced to learn the music of the famous (dead) composers. “I used to prefer sitting at the keyboard at home and playing tv theme songs and music from adverts”, remembers Ben. Eventually he realised that this expanse of black and white keys could be turned to his own advantage and he began forming his own musical inventions.

One day, the teenage Ben bought a Commodore Amiga 500 home computer. Armed with this and a £1 piece of music software, he began to explore the world of electronic composition. Eventually he got so good at using this cheap set-up that back in 1998 Warp Records released his first single. “Warp were the only label who were interested in my first tune,” says Ben. “I sent my demo tape to fifty labels in all, but most people freaked out. A couple of guys made the bizarre criticism that I had too many ideas.” This criticism has frequently dogged Max Tundra (as he was hereby renamed), in a musically diverse, eclectic career where time signatures, musical genres and instrumentation have been given the thorough shake-up they have long needed.

For the last few years (as well as remixing bands such as Franz Ferdinand, Pet Shop Boys, The Futureheads, Tunng and Von Südenfed), Max Tundra has been working on his third album for Domino. This record has been completed, is called “Parallax Error Beheads You”, and was released in October 2008. Six years have passed since the release of his previous LP. During this time many bands have formed, recorded albums, and split up. In a time when groups are encouraged to bang out new records two or three times a year, it is almost quaint to encounter a project which took the best part of a decade to record. Despite the attention to detail in the densely layered programming, these new songs are Max’s catchiest, brightest and most memorable yet, and make much of his earlier work sound home-made and clunky. Now that it’s finished he can leave the house once more.

Max Tundra's warm, emotive, uplifting songs will capture your spirit, pour it over ice, and serve it back to you at the best disco in town (where you won't get turned away for liking both Destiny's Child and Frank Zappa). Incidentally, there's no dress code either.

Action Beat was conceived by Don Mclean and James Carney in 2004, as a tribute to the various drum and bass spazz outfits emerging around this time. Although they were extremely incompetent musicians, the band played a hell of a lot of gigs, adorned in comedy outfits. Their sporadic, nonsensical noise shows would on average last about ten minutes and usually end with the skinny, half naked frame of James Carney jumping into the beat-up, mangled mess of Don Mclean's drum kit. After continuing for some fifty shows as a drum and bass act, James and Don switched to guitars, incorporated a drum machine to punctuate that freak out guitar frenzies, cranked up the amps to preposterous volume, abused delay pedals, ditched the comedy costumes and laid the foundations for wall of sound which is now recognizable at Action Beat shows.

The band played many shows from 2004-2006, including a rather memorable Christmas show in which they hosted a number of short ad hoc gigs around Bletchley and Milton Keynes in front of a handful of dedicated supporters. The noise was so intense, the Queen probably heard it whilst delivering her speech! During a touring period with Parts and Labor in 2006 Action Beat recruited the help of James Walsh on drums and Pete Taylor on bass, it was at this time that they decided to draft in a live drummer for all their shows, like pied pipers they recruited a collection of wonderful drummers, special mentions are given to the following: Jake Burton, James Walsh, Danny Hawkins and Beanie. In 2007, more adjustments were made to the line-up with the addition of Lewis Webb on bass guitar and Pete Taylor moving to Baritone.
Action Beat first recorded at Southern Studios in January 2007 as a five piece, they turned up to the studio with nothing rehearsed and improvised two songs; "More Hookie" and "Maximum Bletchley". The same year they recorded three more improvised songs at Southern; "Tay", "Justice Yeldham" and "Daddy Thirsty", this time integrating Saxophone, Trumpet and Violin into the sound. Their first record, "1977-2007 - Thirty Years of Hurt, Then Us Cunts Exploded" was made up of five songs recorded at Southern in two days, and a re-mix of "Maximum Bletchley" by their friend Destructo Swarmbots.
Having toured constantly throughout the UK and across Europe, Action Beat have played somewhere in the region of 200 gigs, and with many notable bands including: Do Make Say Think, Dälek, Oxes, ZU, Usaisamonster, Bilge Pump, Destructo Swarmbots, OVO and many more. Needless to say Action Beat is completely DIY, and dedicated to being a true punk band. In their words, their main goal is "to play as many shows as we possibly can" and before now their main goals were to play as many shows as they possibly could and sign to one of their favourite record labels, our very own Southern Records. In November, the band will release their second album on Truth Cult, which is a new imprint through Southern. Dreams do come true!

Run, Walk! have been bubbling away on the under-underground for a year or two now, steadily building a name for themselves and gaining friends in all the wrong places. Still only both 18, Matt and Tom already pretty much hate me for calling them small, 'hobbit-rockers' and various other height and age themed jokez. So i'm not allowed to say that or anything like it on the press release for the mini-album cd they will release with us in February 2010! In their defence bassist/vocalist Matt Pickering-Copley (or Cat Mickering Popley or Pat Kickering Mopley) smokes loads and has a voice both onstage and in conversation that makes him sound 45 at least, with problems. Wicked.

Anyway - Run, Walk! are just two dudes, one on drums (conventional) and one on bass/vocals/effects (therefore, overall, less conventional). They are LOUD. The obvious (dull dull dull, no effort) reference point would be something like Lightning Bolt meets Fugazi or Death From Above 1979 playing Maccabees songs. In other words indie punk songs played on a fucking brutal bass guitar, without losing definition, structure, or hooks. Totally sounds like a Holy Roar band to me.

We hope you will love them - they record their cd at the ever-amazing Serafina Studios in November, tour a bit in December, and the cd comes out in February and we make a right song and dance.

After his previous band (Little Japanese Toy) split in 2004, James Mabbett decided to go it alone. Driven by a rediscovered love for the beach boys and a continued love of skewed dance music and loud guitars he became Napoleon IIIrd. Promptly retreating to his newly built home studio in Leeds, Napoleon resurfaced six months later armed with a surround sound system, a 40 year old reel to reel player, an acoustic guitar on a pole with built in strobe light and an battery of new songs.

Recorded after several years of regular live performances and two limited, sold-out EPs (released on Leeds based Dance to the Radio and Brainlove Records), ‘In Debt To:’, Napoleon IIIrd’s debut album, displays a meticulously refined sound, both lo-fi and stunningly complex in its production; behind the ragged vocals and strummed acoustic guitar lie swirling layers of brass and humming organs.

Napoleon has relocated to the Pennines and now resides in Holmfirth where he recorded Hideki Yukawa, a digital only mini album which was released at the beginning of 2009.

Hunting Lodge were formed in 2004, as a poor excuse for founding members Paul Brown and Dan Chandler to indulge their tastes for post punk, The Jesus Lizard, Arab on Radar and attention seeking idiot-theatrics. Now, after 5 years and a series of line-up changes, only the latter remains a recognisable influence.

A year later, having settled into it’s current line-up, of Dan Chandler, Seth Cooke, Clive Henry and Dan Bennett, Hunting Lodge began to tour the UK and europe gaining a reputation as an unpredictable live band dealing in chaos, noise and cheap transcendence. Bored of the tropes of angry-white-man rock and more intent on getting a crowd to react, and ideally dance, the band began to sculpt their noise into rhythmic and melodic hooks, stolen or adapted from anthemic rock, house music, Albert Ayler, and chart R&B. This approach produced the material on their second album, Energy Czar, which saw them make the Radio 1 Peel Memorial festive 50 and rerelease the album in America through Yosada Records.

After Energy Czar however, the difficulty of practicing together while dispersed across the UK meant that the band temporarily split for a year. They finally deciding to reform, only without rehearsals when offered a gig by Bristol’s Illegal Seagull clubnight. The band now plays largely improvised sets, drawing from a stock of elements from album tracks, covers and blind chance. Despite a stint backing Damo Suzuki, as one band in his ever-changing “network”, Jazz Oddyssey indulgence has largely been avoided in favour of hooks and big satisfying rhythms, all tempered by inate contrariness, and a taste for the always hovering threat of collapse.

Hunting Lodge are currently working on new tracks with Bristolian-savant and plague bearer Team Brick.

Members of Hunting Lodge also play in Defibrillators, Xulsigiae, Dethscalator and the Boduf Songs touring band.

Hailing from south London, The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers have slowly emerged as one of the
generation’s most sophisticated guitar-based bands. They have perfected their art through a series of
acclaimed releases starting in 2006 and via their incendiary live sets.
Formed in 2005 by Jonathan Richards (formerly of Joeyfat), Tony Mountford (Cove / Princess Headbutt) and Rhys Llewellyn (Hey Colossus), they began by
furrowing both their own music and popular music history, giving it their own twist by bringing equal
amounts of volume and texture to the forefront, whilst never neglecting the killer hook.

Following a year of honing their craft onstage alongside some of the UK’s finest such as Part Chimp,
Lords and Bilge Pump, The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers released their debut single themselves – a brutal
eponymous titled 7” on their own Noisestar imprint. Taking it on the road, the single sold out and is
currently out of print. The band continued to work on their debut album, recording in Camberwell
with engineer Tim Cedar (Part Chimp). These recordings became the album
‘Which side are you on?’, which was immediately snapped up for release by London-based
Rocket Recordings and saw the light of day in early 2008, winning international appreciation.
Continuing on the road throughout 2008, taking stage alongside friends and peers The Heads,
Parts and Labour, Shit & Shine, Monotonix, The USA Is A Monster and White Hills, the band
decided to head back into the studio whilst the iron was white hot, to pull together a further two
releases…First out of the traps being ‘New Spirituals’. Committed live to tape during a radio
session, New Spirituals presented the first opportunity for fans of the group’s studio debut to grab
these songs, new and improved, on the blessed format of vinyl LP.

Harnessing a lighter, more psychedelic sound for current live sets and the upcoming LP, the band –
now featuring Hungarian drumming powerhouse Tamas Kiss in place of a departed Llewellyn – are
at present putting the finishing touches to what is sure to be one of 2009’s finest and most surprising
long players. Having recently returned from a successful tour of Central Europe, with previews from

This three piece instrumental, instrument swapping band was formed in Spring 2005. Drummer, Neil Turpin, also mans the kit for Bilge Pump and Polaris and has done a stint in HiM alongside Doug Scharin. Richard Morris plays in Manchester band, I Had An Inkling as well as working with bassist, Stuart Bannister, to form the respectable live sound engineering team, voted No.1 at Leeds Music Awards 2005.

Richard’s wailing Turkish keyboards provide the tunes that you will be humming days later. The sound is filled out by Stuart’s warm, belly rubbing bass, while Neil’s musical drums remain deep in the pocket and expertly guide the songs safely home.

The music of Quack Quack isn’t easy to categorize, but take a shared spirit of improvisation and a healthy disregard for well trodden musical paths and you’re moving in the right direction. Like the great rhythm sections of James Brown, Africa 70, CAN and Led Zeppelin, Quack Quack operate right next to your heartbeat and your footsteps. They understand the importance of rhythm and use it to get the good chemicals flowing. This is music for dancing and smiling.

Quack Quack have played a superabundance of gigs, sharing the stage with many great bands including, Hella, E.A.R, Pit er Pat, Scout Niblet and Lords. All three, individually, continue to contribute to the Damo Suzuki Network. Their first CD was played by Radio 1 DJ, Huw Stephens, and the band performed a live radio session for Resonance FM.

Bilge Pump have a disturbing ability to be better than any band they play with. Imagine a boiling-over bastard concoction of all the best bits of The Jesus Lizard, Led Zeppelin, The Fall, Blue Cheer, Funkadelic and King Crimson. A thick broth of art-punk fractured progressive noise, condensed into atonal pop songs free of power chords. Nitro-fuelled avant-jazz rhythms create enough structural form amongst the twisted guitar and off-the-cuff witticisms to provide an uncanny ability to incite dancing! It doesn't matter how wired or weird Bilge Pump get; behind the progressive noise there are clear, distinctive, memorable songs: a rare and winning combination!

Formed in Leeds during the murky depths of the mid 90s, it didn't take too long for the NME to churn out their now infamous declaration that Bilge Pump are " unlistenable guff"; so far, so good. It took them 7 years to produce their first album, 'Let Me Breathe', released by Gringo in 2002. It has taken another 5 years for their second album to arrive, but in that time they have probably played with, dismayed and blown away all your favourite bands (take your pick from Lightning Bolt, Erase Errata, Part Chimp, Trans Am, The Mars Volta, Hella, Foals, Get Hustle, Les Savy Fav, Enon). They will probably make you want to quit playing music, but you'll get over it. They may not have done an interview in a magazine for you to read. But they probably are the best thing you've ever heard, and if you haven't heard them, they probably are the best thing you've never heard, and if you've never heard them, you probably should, and here's your chance!

Various releases on Gringo, Troubleman Unlimited, Unlabel, Jonson Family, Obscene Baby Auction, Noisestar, Run of the Mill. They have been involved with bands such as Polaris, Red Monkey, Propulsion Family Picnic, HiM, Snail Racing, Mask, Diesel Versus Steam, Baby Harp Seal, Quack Quack, Enablers. They recorded several John Peel Sessions (in which Peel is chomping at the bit for more - only very rarely did I hear him quite so enthusiastic). Joe makes custom valve amps for the likes of The Fucking Champs. Brian Chippendale from Lightning Bolt admitted he's a one-trick-drum-pony compared to Bilge's Neil Turpin in a Pitchfork interview after they played together in 2006.

Brace yourselves, lock up the liquor cabinet, and throw logic out the window, because Bilge Pump is comin' atcha with a hardcore ear-assaulting noisy punk rock free-for-all. Indecipherable shouted vocals -- sort of like David Yow from The Jesus Lizard singing through a sweaty Army vest -- a rambling, almost free-jazz bass line, shrieking guitars, and racing apoplectic drums come together for... cacophony. Born in Glasgow through a frustration that THEIR kinda music wasn't getting heard in the city, DIVORCE decided that instead of adding to the choir of miserablists and moaners they would instead 'make their own scene'.

Brought together through random encounters, solid friendships and drunken obsessive discussions at terrible parties, the five members who make up DIVORCE (Sinead Youth: vocals - Hillary Van Scoy: guitar, vocals - VSO: bass, vocals - Andy Brown: drums, vocals - Vickie MacDonald: guitar ) had no more of an exacting agenda than just MAKE NOISE and MAKE IT GOOD. Trend-hopping was anathema, a course of action so abhorrent to everyone involved it didn't figure from the very beginning. DIVORCE make no claims for indie credibility or outsider obtuseness, for them to please oneself is the whole of the law.

Their sound quickly coalesed and in a flurry of collective inspiration and enthusiasm a set of songs came together that were ready to be heard and felt by the public only a mere three months after forming, with a sense of stagecraft that would appear confrontational to the audience (Sinead's disrespect of the band/audience 'barrier' often resulted in her giving many in the crowd a more intimate recital) but simply figured to the band as the only honest way to perform.

Early on, this attitude regarding their music, performance and general outlook, got the attention of Glasgow's seminal club OPTIMO (ESPACIO), who invited them to perform at their Sunday residency in November 2008. One brief yet thunderous show later a promise was made to have their noise preserved on vinyl; the results of which can be heard on the four-song, red vinyl 10" ep they released on the club's Optimo Music imprint in June 2009.

Since then they've gained a surprising amount of positive reviews and plaudits from magazines as disparate as Rock-A-Rolla, NME, The Stool Pigeon and Vice as well as many blogs and zines all over the UK. The NME have even attempted to turn their self-created fictional 'Nae-Wave' scene into an actual real thing, as is their wont. Only when 'Nae-Wave' couture starts appearing in Topshop will the alarm-bells start ringing!!

After a hugely successful UK tour was undertaken last October with Glasgow brothers-in-noise Ultimate Thrush, plans are afoot to have releases appear on the Merok and Milk labels in early 2010 along with more gigging all over the UK.

On the face of it you'd never expect such an all-out violent assault, both musically and physically when experienced live, to come from three such young, fresh-faced men, but Ultimate Thrush can andwill turn any and all expectations you might have hold completely on their head.

Formed in the final months of 2008, the band (brothers Oliver and Laurie Pitt on guitar and drums respectively, plus Ross Little on vocals) wasted absolutely no time putting together a collection of songs so ferocious, visceral and intense that when they began playing live a mere couple of months later they were quickly and rightfully acknowledged as Glasgow's most brutal new band, bringing a desperately-needed shot in the arm to the city's stagnating underground scene

With just as much urgency, perhaps fearing that a band with such intensity might burn out just as quickly as they formed, Glasgow's Winning Sperm Party label released their debut album, a 12-track lightning-quick assault of spasticated rhythms, dumb-fun riffs and serrated screams. Each copy was hand-made in bizarre, beautiful triangle-shaped packages (it can also be downloaded for free from the W.S.P. site). A mutual appreciation society formed between the band and fellow Glasgow noisemakers Divorce and many gigs have been played together, including a UK tour last October that produced many cuts, bruises, chipped teeth and most importantly EPIC PERFORMANCES!!

Their kinship with Divorce will be preserved on a split tape to be released early in 2010 on Milk.

Wonderswan was conceived early in 2008 in a dark, damp basement in Leeds and incubated in a warm pouch by the radiant glow of a shared love for scuzzy 90s lo-fi slacker bands. Serious Sam Barrett is a solo acoustic artist drawing on a vast range of traditional idioms to create his own unique sound. Two words that I feel quite adequately describe Holy Mountain are Fucking Gigantic. this two piece behemoth from Glasgow batter out huge slabs of overdriven doom-blues with an abundance of dirty ’Sabbath’ rock. They have also been known to play multiple gigs at a time and in their hometown of Glasgae' and will often play one venue, continue to play in their van, drive to another venue (whilst still playing) and finish a mile or two down the road. Palehorse are not just at the forefront of current great UK bands, but at the forefront of their genre as well, they are a real band with shit clothes, alcohol problems and a lack of interest in trying to rip off other people's material or play what is around and in vogue at the time, and are a punk band in every sense of the word with true DIY Ethics.

Mutant Ape is the insane noise project by Yorkshire, UK resident George Proctor. George runs the Turgid Animal label, which since 2005 has been the go-to place for harsh noise, power electronics and other demented spuzz releasing over 500 CDs, CDRS, cassettes, LPs, 10”s, 7”s etc. He has been releasing Mutant Ape sounds wherever and whenever establishing his classic yet contemporary noise/horror vision of lust and spectacle as one of the premier scum artists of the last decade
Erotic Yorkshire, released on Thrston Moore's Ecstatic Peace Label, is Mutant Ape at its most corrosive delivering from track to track occult ambience to skin shredding power drug electronics. All bookended by the demented and misogynist rants of Jamie Gillis.

That Fucking Tank is Andy Abbott and James Islip. They have been playing music together since pre-teenhood when they met at school in 1991. They formed in Leeds as a one-off performance utilising some novelty equipment (A baritone guitar tuned to play bass and guitar lines simultaneously through two amps, and a minimal drum set) but kept on going.

Live performances once relied on masks, few clothes, lots of sweat and extreme volume as a mediator for the ‘minimal riff disco’ pumped out by the duo. (Documented in Jealous Records’ releases A Document of the First Set and 2006’s album Day Of Death By Bono Adrenalin Shock)

Second album, 2009’s Tanknology, shows how the duo’s sound has matured from its minimal math-rock beginnings to incorporate more classic rock, prog, and early techno influences, whilst staying true to the stripped-down equipment that instigated the band.

British Wildlife Festival

British Wildlife Festival is set in and around Leeds' musical and cultural institution The Brudenell Social Club. With this years focus on bringing together a multitude of alternative and underground genres. In addition to this we will also have two extra stages, an experimental stage in the club's Snooker Room, and next door in the Royal Park Cellars holding an extra day on Sunday 28th March at Nation of Shopkeepers.

Previous incarnations of the festival have included the likes of Quack Quack, Dj Scotch Eggs' Drum Eyes, Thomas Truax, Action Beat, I'm Being Good, Capillary Action, The Leeds Improvised Music Association, Hunting Lodge, Kylie Minoise amoungst a heap of alternative and experimental bands from Leeds, the UK & overseas, no wonder British Wildlife Festival was once quoted 'the arty side of Leeds' musical arse'.

It’s encouraging to see a European duo making people all hot in the pants in the same way they might over ATP and Pitchfork sponsored American noise-rock and few better deserve it than Pneu; alongside Sincabeza, they are doing wonders for making you want to move to France with their gossip-inducing live shows. The music shares similarities with USA power duos ala Lightning Bolt and Hella but Pneu aren’t scared of a bit of double bass drum-pedal action and chugging classic rock-outs. Seemingly unending touring guarantees a performance of head-shaking precision, and of course they are incredibly loud

Pneu are a two piece math come post hardcore rock from France. with the basis of energetic drums and looping guitar solos. instrumental is their key genre with the odd chant here and there.

Is there a better band than SYE in the UK or the world right now? I doubt it somehow, don’t you? With two mega-cracking albums under their belts, new haircuts and seemingly unstoppable talent-acceleration, the trio from the dark side of the big smoke are making smiles everywhere they play. Henri’s drumming has recently reached a level that ought to get Zach Hill fans embarrassed about the claims they might have made on his behalf, new lad Nick is pumping out the bass in the most appropriate manner and Stef’s unique – and I mean that – guitar-work is as enchanting as ever. They still somehow manage to avoid being a muso’s band, and the sincerity and efficiency with which they deliver the sonic-goods is humbling. Fans of Karate, Melt Banana, Hella, Breadwinner, Bob Titlon, Spy Vs Spy and Dire Straits, as well as anyone else with ears, should check them out.

Shield Your Eyes has Henri Grimes a.k.a Henri George a.k.a. H.Bone (Bottlenose Dolphins and Tatsunokos Bear), Stef Ketteringham (Guns or Knives, Candles and Push to Fire) and Nick Bavin (Bottlenose Dolphins and Tatsunokos Bear).

Together they play a bunch of songs all written in a hurry in 1972.

The Brudenell is a few doors down from the Royal Park Pub, which is situated on the cross roads of Queens Road and Royal Park Road.

Getting there by rail: Take a train to Burley Park station (one stop from Leeds City Centre). Leave the station and turn left at the top of the steps. Walk to the end of the road - you will see a large Co-Op on your left. Turn right and walk down Cardigan Road for a few minutes. Cross over and turn left onto Royal Park Road when you get to the Grove curry house. Keep walking along Royal Park Road, past the mosque, until you reach a crossroads. The Royal Park pub is on your right. Turn right and walk past the front of the Royal Park pub. Keep going, and you will reach the entrance to the Brudenell car park opposite the playground.

Getting there by bus: The 56 stops on Queens Road, opposite the Royal Park pub. Follow directions as above.

Getting there by car from Leeds City Centre: Head out of town towards Headingley/ Universities on Woodhouse Lane. After you pass Leeds University on the left, turn left at the traffic lights onto Clarendon Road (the Library pub is on this junction). Turn right at the next traffic lights (Leeds Business School is opposite) onto Moorland Road. Hyde Park is on your right as you drive along Moorland Road. At the next crossroads, continue straight on (Royal Park Road) and down the hill. Take the left at the Royal Park pub at the bottom of the hill. The Brudenell is on your right, opposite the playground. There is free car parking space at the venue.
